 Frequently Asked Questions:

Is the installation process complicated?

Hand-Hewn Log Siding can be installed on any flat surface-with either interior or exterior application. The planks are manufactured for ease of install by stacking one directly on top of the other, securing it to the existing framing with either nails or screws, and completed it with the chinking process.

Does the siding come stained or finished?

No, our siding is delivered authentic and untreated. By doing so, you may achieve the look you desire through color and finish. If you are looking for the naturally weathered look, we do offer a rapid aging (graying agent) product and application service at an additional charge.

What kind of manufacturing time should I expect?

All orders are manufactured in the order they are received. Our average lead time is approximately 30 days. The hand-hewning and distressing process takes time, but it is certainly worth the wait and we appreciate your patience.

Is there a minimum order?

A minimum order of 500 linear feet is required. Smaller orders will be considered if materials are available and time permitting.

What do corners look like with Hand-Hewn Log Siding?

Pure and simple, the siding butts to your corner trim-whether that is a post or trim board. There are variety of options to select from to create the look you are after.

What is the longevity of Hand-Hewn Log Siding?

With periodic inspection and proper care of this very low maintenance siding, it may last for generations. You can stain or paint it as with any other wood product. However, in our opinion, the natural again/graying process that only time can apply ads the historic charm and appearance that gives our wood the "authentic" log look.

What makes Hand-Hewn Log Siding so unique?

The process alone. The use of axes, adzes, draw-knives, planers and the artistry of each of our craftsmen produces a unique plank each and every time. It is also an economical alternative to half log siding.
