 Installing your Hand-Hewn Log Siding:

Hand-Hewn Log Siding is manufactured with ease of installation in mind. The first course is set on any flat surface on a straight line with the remaining courses stacked directly one on top of the other. The planks are simply secured to the framing by the use of nails or screws. Where splicing occurs, a simple 45 degree mitre cut should be used.

Once the Hand-Hewn Log Siding is installed, the look is completed with a method called "chinking". Chinking fills the spaces between each plank and allows for expansion and contraction of the siding. You may chink the siding yourself, or consider hiring a sub-contractor. Again, because of the way the planks are manufactured, there is no worry about having to set spacers or taking extra steps to prepare for the correct chinking application.

To Stain, or Not to Stain?

The option is yours and should be determined by the look you desire and the amount of exposure to the elements. The siding can be painted or stained as with any other wood product. We do offer a rapid aging "graying agent" product and application service at an additional cost.
**Installation of the siding should be completed as soon as possible upon delivery. Exposure to the elements should be limited to prevent warping or twisting of the material.

Interior Finish?
